What got you interested in theatre? Was there a specific moment or was it always in your blood?
I was very fortunate to grow up in a family that prized theatre and music. While my sister and I were no Rosemary and Betty, our choir-teacher mother had us singing as soon as we could speak. My folks took us to professional shows, enrolled us in arts camps and voice lessons, and encouraged us to do theatre as children. It was my hobby, my joy, and eventually became my job. My sister went on to become a world-class opera singer, whereas I gravitated more towards theatre. To this day, it remains the best decision of my life. I am eternally grateful to my parents and teachers, and I recognize the immense privilege that allowed me to spend my life studying theatre.
What excites you most about doing Tenderly?
I don’t know where to begin! First of all, I’m excited to get to work with Cherry Creek Theatre, this great team, and the fantastic Abby Apple Boes. Second, I am a massive fan of Rosemary Clooney and it’s a joy to get to hear this music performed by these talented musicians. Third, it’s unbelievably exciting to be back performing live theatre. I feel very grateful to be involved!
Favorite show/role?
Sunday in the Park with George as George. A perfect musical. However, singing this ’50s music makes me nostalgic for the time I spent performing Forever Plaid, which is another all-time favorite.
Favorite food and why?
Sushi! Classic, delicious, and perfect any time of the day.
