We produced three magnificent productions, including our first-ever world premiere, and garnered critical acclaim, and dozens of award nominations, including one Henry Award win. We brought thousands of patrons together to tell stories about our past in our present for our future. Thanks for making 2023 our best season yet!

In Eugene O’Neill’s bittersweet A Moon for the Misbegotten, director Tara Falk got an ensemble of Denver’s best actors on the intimate Pluss stage to tell a classic story with a 21st-century lens.
The Denver Gazette wrote, “Falk says she had no intention of making a social statement by putting a Black man in the role of a landowner in 1923 Connecticut. But nonetheless, she has. Thrillingly. By flipping the racial script, this telling of A Moon for the Misbegotten shows a different power dynamic than even the playwright could have imagined. That’s not just one reason to see the 70-year-old play in 2023. It is the most compelling reason to see the play in 2023.”
Grown from our new-play reading series, we produced a fully-staged production of The Headliners by Colorado playwright Jeffrey Neuman. Critics hailed the world premiere a “triumph,” and audiences said Neuman’s work was “timeless, timely, and powerful.”
We’re proud to give today’s generation of Americanplaywrights the space to amplify their voices and tell their stories.
We are incredibly proud that all three eligible CCT productions garnered a record-breaking TEN Henry Award nominations! Our work was recognized right alongside that of the Denver Center and other premier companies.
Jeffrey Parker won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Musical for his hilarious portrayal of the fearsome fop Black Stache in 2022’s Peter and the Starcatcher.
In 2021, the world lost an icon with the death of composer Stephen Sondheim. Our remounting of the 2015 production of Sondheim on Sondheim was an educational, inspirational, and humming-your-way-out-of-the-theatre experience. OnStage Colorado wrote, “Cherry Creek Theatre’s Sondheim celebration shines.”
