What are you passionate about?
A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Every artist lives a fractured existence and looks at the world two ways. One is to see the rock pile. The other is to see the cathedral. This dual nature is the very soul of Asher Lev. The responsibilities of family and religion create pressure that pushes against the intense passionate nature of the artist. Conflict creates drama. And all good drama is suspense.
But this way of life is not limited to artists. How many of you in our audience have had the experience of trying to live passionately and have also felt the pressure of society trying to pull you into too many directions and objections?
I invite you to spend the 105 minutes of My Name is Asher Lev allowing our show to wash over you and bathe you in inspiration. Let go of the Facebook, drive-thru world for a couple of hours. It will rejuvenate you.
And thank you, dear audience, for supporting live theatre. It’s important.
