Q&A with Chris Kendall
Chris Kendall co-starred in our 2019 production of Tuesdays With Morrie, directed by Billie McBride. He won the 2020 Henry Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Morrie Schwartz. We caught up with him for a quick Q&A about acting career and role in the acclaimed production.
Why acting? What made you get into this profession?
Couldn’t help it. I’ve been a loud-mouth all my life.
Favorite role to date? Why?
The Poet in An Iliad. I got to tell the whole story of the Trojan War in 100 minutes and play about 13 characters.
What made you want to audition for this play?
[Director] Billie McBride. I’ve always admired her acting work, but never had the chance to work with her as a director.
How do you feel about portraying real people? Especially since so many folks are familiar with these two characters.
I play the character that I find in the script. The burden of accuracy (or invention) is on the playwright.
Favorite food? Why?
Lobster. Because why not? Nothing is so delicious.
